Our Director
Marcia O’Neil
New York’s loss was North Carolina’s gain when vivacious Marcia O’Neil
and her husband, Gerry, relocated to Roxboro, NC. The Golden Triad Chorus,
ready to grow and looking for an infusion of new ideas and energy, saw
Marcia’s arrival in Region 14 as a “golden” opportunity and offered her the
Directorship in January of 2006. |
 |
| The music of Sweet Adelines has fed Marcia’s
soul for over twenty-eight years. Whether singing from the risers, with her
quartets, or directing a chorus, Marcia’s talent, leadership and fabulous
sense of humor enhance the sound and bring laughter and camaraderie wherever
she is. Marcia’s experience in three New York choruses and numerous
quartets gives Golden Triad a fresh perspective that has brought the chorus
to a new level of commitment and aspiration. With her husband, Gerry, a
thirty-five-year barbershop veteran, Marcia sang for six years with “Sound
Celebration” the 2003 Buckeye Invitational Mixed Quartet champion. Marcia’s
leadership is demonstrated with a liturgy of Regional positions, which
include Vice-Regent, Director of Musical Activities, a three year stint as
Membership Services Manager of Regional Competition, and twelve years on the
Management Team. “COMMITMENT” is a key word in Marcia’s chorus
philosophy and defines her personal devotion. Marcia travels two hours, one
way, to direct Golden Triad each Monday evening. In civilian life, Marcia is
the President/ CEO of the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce where her vision
and leadership have made her a welcome addition to the community. Serving on
the Board of the Person County Council on the Arts gives Marcia an
additional artistic outlet. If leisure time can be carved out of her
busy schedule, you may find Marcia enjoying her children and granddaughter,
reading, gardening, dabbling in interior decorating or simply enjoying the
view from her new lake home. Golden Triad is proud to perform, compete and
celebrate the joy of four-part a cappella harmony under the spirited
direction of Marcia O’Neil. |

Our Associate Director
Eva Kaplan
|
Eva has been a member of Sweet Adelines International since 1983. Born in
New Jersey, Eva had her first performance on television in New York City at
the ripe old age of 4. She sang two songs both popular with Sweet Adelines
today “When The Red Red Robin” and “If You Knew Susie Like I Know Susie”.
Eva wore sequin and feather costumes – a Sweet Adeline in training!
|
| As a high school student, Eva won a Lincoln
Center Student Award and auditioned at the Metropolitan Opera at 16. She
studied with a voice teacher through the Met for two years and received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education at State University of NY, at
Potsdam. She earned her Masters Degree in Music Education from the
University of Buffalo. Eva taught in the public schools in Buffalo, NY, and
then in Chapel Hill, NC. Eva and her husband Lenny live in Greensboro. When
her daughters, Alicia and Maia were small children, she taught guitar and
voice lessons. After joining Sweet Adelines International, Eva put her
singing talents to work in both the Golden Triad Chorus and her quartet,
Esprit de’ Corps. Her quartet won Regional contest four times. Including
Harmony Classic, Eva has appeared on the International stage six times since
becoming a Sweet Adeline. Her singing was so infectious, that both of her
girls have been members of Golden Triad. If she isn’t spending her time
working with her dentist husband, singing in the chorus and serving as an
excellent Associate Director, she is spoiling her grand daughters Avi and
Lailah.
